When my grocery store began carrying Listerine Advanced, I immediately picked it up. I loved that I could get tartar protection in both my toothpaste I use -and- my mouthwash. That was my new "go-to" mouthwash. Well, I went to get another bottle when mine was running low and couldn't find the Advanced anywhere until I looked closer at the bottle marked UltraClean and realised it was an upgraded version of the Advanced Formula, as noted in the corner of the bottle. So I picked it up, figuring it was just a name change. I can deal with a name change.
Unfortunately, it's way more than "just a name change."
First, the flavours are different. The UltraClean has this very off-putting taste. It's this muddled, old mint-ish flavour. I can't get it out of my mouth quick enough. The Advanced was very brightly minty. It was what you expect when you think of mouthwash. The UltraClean is weirdly medicinal. The after-taste isn't bad, but when using it, it's terrible.
Second, the -feeling- is wrong with the UltraClean. I, personally, like the sharp alcoholic burn that spreads through my mouth with mouthwash. With the Advanced, I could feel the mouthwash in my gums. They felt tingly, clean, refreshed. The UltraClean? Not much. There's some slight tingling, but not enough to count.
Third, the UltraClean doesn't last. With the Advanced, I would wake up in the morning and still taste the mouthwash in my mouth. With the UltraClean, I'm lucky if I still have any effects an hour after using it. I absolutely never taste it in the morning.
I strongly advise against the UltraClean mouthwash. There was nothing wrong with the first formulation. Why mess with a good thing? I don't know, but they did. They messed it up big time.
No, I would not recommend this product
